Betsy Melton
Director
Betsy Melton serves as a Director on the Kentwood Public Schools Education Foundation Board, contributing more than two decades of leadership and dedication to the foundation. Her deep civic commitment also spans eight years on the Kentwood Board of Education as well as representing the City of Kentwood on the Kent County Board of Commissioners.
Professionally, Betsy built an extensive nursing career serving patients in intensive care units and pediatrics, alongside multiple roles as a nurse educator. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan.
With both of her children having graduated from East Kentwood High School (and now watching her grandchildren learn and grow within the district), Betsy remains deeply inspired by Kentwood's global learning environment. She is dedicated to the foundation’s mission because she believes every student thrives when given an equitable, supportive atmosphere that celebrates learning alongside peers from around the world.
In her free time, Betsy loves staying active in the community and outdoors by swimming, cycling, gardening, and enjoying a good book.
