How Your Support Powered the PEAKS Tower Garden
Dear Kentwood Public School Education Foundation,
Thank you for the grant to support our 4th-grade classroom purchasing Tower Garden LED grow lights. The lights led us to an incredible harvest of a variety of lettuce and brought so much joy to our classroom.
Our class successfully grew butter lettuce, gourmet lettuce, kale, arugula, and mixed baby greens. We were able to enjoy multiple bowls of salad at our salad party. Then, after a few more weeks of growth, we shared lettuce with our other 4th-grade PEAKS class so they could have their own salad party. Finally, students were able to take home a gallon bag of lettuce from our final harvest.
The Tower Garden played such an amazing role and purpose in our classroom. Students were completely invested in the progress, cheering and rooting together for the growth of our plants. They were excited to track the growth over time, and it created constant conversation. The sound of the water running also added a calming background to our classroom that the students immediately missed once we finished with the Tower Garden.
I can’t wait to use the Tower Garden with upcoming 4th grade PEAKS classes for years to come.

Thank you for giving us the grant for the tower garden! My favorite part was the salad party, where we picked and harvested all the plants. Every week or so, we did observations on it. I’m just going to say, they got HUGE! I enjoyed it because we could learn from it and it was growing plants! One thing you should know about me: I LOVE GROWING PLANTS AND PLANTS THEMSELVES!!! I learned that plants are able to grow even BETTER without soil than with it! I got to try salad that we personally grew, and since it was fresh, it was WAY better than store-bought lettuce. Thank you for so much for donating the lights to our teacher. We got to grow such delicious arugula, butter lettuce, and gourmet lettuce and I loved it but I usually don’t like salad but it was so good. (I named my plant Adalin, R.I.P Adalin). One hope I have for the next class to use it is that they learn and they make sure to observe them and take care of them well. Sincerely, Isley!
Thank you for giving us a grant. We used it to get the new lights for the Tower Garden. My favorite part of the Tower Garden experience was getting to see how fast the plants grew and getting to eat the lettuce at the end. The plant that I was monitoring was Baby Mild Mix, and I learned that their stems turn purple. I hope the next class that gets to use the tower garden has as much fun as we did! Thank you again. I am so thankful for the lights you gave us. Now our plants are bigger than ever! I happen to eat a salad almost every day. I have tried to get my classmates to eat heather and after the new lights got to work, we had an amazing salad party! People even said they loved the greens we ate. It filled my heart up so much! Thank you so much for giving us the Tower Garden lights. It was a pleasure to have them and it helped our lettuce grow really big. Our class loved it even I did and it’s thanks to you. The leaves grew back fast after our harvesting and I loved how they grew quickly. Picking them was fun too. We all loved it and we thank you for giving it to us. Thank you for giving us our grant for the tower garden lights. We got so much lettuce! We got so much lettuce from the tower garden. My favorite part of the tower garden was that we got to harvest. The salad and the lights helped grow the lettuce faster so we got extra lettuce to take home. Sincerely, Lemon
