Grant-tastic Moments!
Thanks to KPSEF, recently a group of Glenwood and Explorer Elementary students traded their desks for a week of hands-on adventure!! Through the IMMERSE program at the Grand Rapids Public Museum, their classroom became a place filled with artifacts, exhibits, and hands-on discovery for an entire week. From stepping back in time in the Old Town exhibit, to exploring behind-the-scenes treasures in the archives, to gazing at the stars in the planetarium, every corner of the museum became part of their learning experience. Instead of just reading about Michigan history and the Grand River, students explored it up close - thinking like historians, scientists, and even museum designers.
“Thank you for helping us have a fun week at the museum. My favorite part was going to the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. I learned a lot about the history of it. And it was fun to see and hear it being played. I hope you’re able to go to the museum sometime soon!”

“Thank you for giving us money so we could go to the Grand Rapids Public Museum that not everyone can go to like us so thank you again and also that we could go to the archives that really no one gets to see (except the people who work at the Museum) and that we got to see and feel a real Megalodon tooth and a real T-Rex tooth so thank you again.”

“Thank you for being so generous and helping fund our week at Immerse. My favorite part was the Streets of Old Grand Rapids where you are a new immigrant and have to find stuff from the hints. I learned a lot about the grand river at the steam activity. Thank you again for being so kind and hope you get to go to the GRPM.”
